Did you know that the U.K. has one of the highest rates of self harm in Europe? Cornwall has higher than average rates. It is prevalent in all ages, genders and backgrounds but most common in women aged 16-24.

Hello and Welcome

A bit about us...

Who are we?   We are a small Cornish not-for-profit service who feel passionately about helping people to understand and accept themselves, particularly when it comes to self-harm.

We have personal and professional experience of self-harm and know that it is a complex issue that is usually difficult for people to talk about. Our mission is to change that by offering a service where people can talk about it without fear of judgement. We also aim to raise awareness of self-harm through our social media and through training and education.

Why adults?  We focus on adults as that is our area of expertise and experience, but we know that many children and young people self-harm.  Therefore, we plan to extend our reach to ALL age groups in the future.  In the meantime, there are other wonderful services that may be able to support you, if you are under 18 years old, which can be found by clicking the link below.  If you are struggling to find the right service, please contact us and we will do our best to point you in the right direction.

Help for Children & young people

Who we can help...

Adults (aged 18+) who live in the South West of Cornwall (e.g. West of Truro) at our beautiful fully accessible therapy room in Hayle, which is close to train and bus services.  We hope to be able to extend our service throughout Cornwall in the future.

Adults who self-harm (who are not at immediate risk of severe harm or who are suicidal).  While it is true that for some people self-harm is a risk factor for suicide, it is also true that for many people, it is a means of coping and staying alive.   Hope for Harm aims to help people who self-harm as a way of coping with overwhelming emotional experiencing and/or psychological pain.

If your self-harm is severe and/or you are suicidal, please reach out for help to the relevant services which can be found by clicking  the link below.
